The Grammy award-winning singer will be kicking off the tour on May 18, visiting major cities including London, Birmingham, Newcastle and Liverpool in May 2013, where she will be performing tracks from her latest album, such as ‘New Day’ and Emeli Sande-penned ‘Brand New Me,’ in addition to some of her old classics.
Speaking about the forthcoming dates, Alicia said: “I’m in love with this album!! It is full of new beginnings, new perspectives and fresh starts.”
“I’m so excited to be touring again and it’s great to be back in the UK!!! I Love it here and I’m looking forward to performing and feeling the energy of the crowd—there’s nothing like it. I plan to bring you something emotional and exciting! I’m a brand new me!”
The announcement of Alicia’s forthcoming tour comes hot off the heels of her show-stopping performances at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2012 in Frankfurt, Radio 1 Xtra Live in Birmingham and on The X Factor last night. This will be Alicia’s first tour since giving birth to her first child, son Egypt in 2010.
The 31-year-old recently spoke about becoming a mother for the first time and says it changed her priorities in life.
“The minute I became a mum, I was not a young lady any more,” she told French newspaper Metro.
“Even though there is still a part of me like that inside, having a child and a family has changed my priorities.”
“The things I thought were important before are much less important now. Before my life was like a wheel, going round and round without purpose.”
Tickets for Alicia’s ‘Girl On Fire’ tour go on sale at 9am on November 23.
