Sara Bareilles will release her long-awaited new album, the follow-up to 2010’s Kaleidoscope Heart , this summer. The album’s title has not been revealed yet, but the first single, “Brave,” will hit iTunes on April 23.
Sara will take some of her new songs on the road when she launches a solo acoustic tour, starting April 25 in Washington, D.C. Currently, dates are scheduled through May 23.
In a statement, Sara says that the new album is all about conquering her fears, and the tour fits in with that theme.
“I have never felt more open and more raw in my entire life,” she says. “2012 was a year of deconstruction for me personally. I have been confronting some of my greatest fears in the last handful of months and have been amazed at how empowered I can feel when I muster up the courage to turn and growl back at those monsters under the bed.”
She adds, “The songs on this album are a true reflection of everything I’ve come to experience in recent months and I’m going to celebrate that with the next most terrifying thing I can do…go back on the road…totally alone. Just me. And my piano. And maybe a guitar. And some whiskey. And some jokes. And my songs.”
The singer adds that she’s “excited to share this next stage of my career” with her fans.
